Suicide

While threats of suicide may be insincere, even plausible threats of suicide are extremely coercive, since survivors will understandably do anyhing to avoid a partner killing themselves. Suicide can be a true indication of the desperateness of a primary aggressor contemplating the end of a relationship. It can, and usually does work as a 'trump card' that obliterates survivors' attempts at boundaries. Approximately a third of primary aggressors that kill their partners, attempt suicide at the same time. Any threat or attempt at suicide, with, or without apparently manipulative elements, is an indication of high lethality.
